چکیده

A new approach for the problem of optimal task scheduling in flexible manufacturing systems is proposed in this work, as a combination of metaheuristic optimization techniques with the supervisory control theory of discrete-event systems. A specific encoding, the word-shuffling encoding, which avoids the generation of a large number of infeasible sequences, is employed. A metaheuristic method based on a Variable Neighborhood Search is then built using such an encoding. The optimization algorithm performs the search for the optimal schedules, while the supervisory control has the role of codifying all the problem constraints, allowing an efficient feasibility correction procedure, and avoiding schedules that are sensitive to uncertainties in the execution times associated with the plant operation. In this way, the proposed methodology achieves a system performance which is typical frommodel-predictive scheduling, combined with the robustness which is required from a structural control. © 2015 Elsevier Inc. Enhancement of Robust Tracking Performance via Switching Supervisory Adaptive Control

When the process is highly uncertain, even linear minimum phase systems must sacrifice desirable feedback control benefits to avoid an excessive ‘cost of feedback’, while preserving the robust stability. In this paper, the problem of supervisory based switching Quantitative Feedback Theory (QFT) control is proposed for the control of highly uncertain plants. According to this strategy, the unce...

Modular Multitasking Supervisory Control of Composite Discrete-event Systems

A modular approach for efficiently dealing with multiple tasks and multiple specifications in the supervisory control of composite discrete-event systems (DES) is presented. Colored marking generators are used to distinguish classes of tasks in supervisory control of DES, which allows the synthesis of optimal supervisors that are nonblocking with respect to multiple control objectives. A local ...

Load-Frequency Control: a GA based Bayesian Networks Multi-agent System

Bayesian Networks (BN) provides a robust probabilistic method of reasoning under uncertainty. They have been successfully applied in a variety of real-world tasks but they have received little attention in the area of load-frequency control (LFC). In practice, LFC systems use proportional-integral controllers. However since these controllers are designed using a linear model, the nonlinearities...

Supervisory synthesis for product-driven automation and its application to a flexible assembly cell

A make-to-order business model requires manufacturing control to face customised product variability and traceability. Considering the product as central to the automation rationale provides each product occurrence with informational and decisional capabilities. This paper considers a formal framework for such product-driven automation within the context of the Supervisory Control Theory. Two i...
